The Effects of Cold Weather on Equine Posture and Muscle Function

Course overview
This course explores how cold weather conditions influence the horse’s musculoskeletal system, with a particular focus on posture, muscle function, and movement quality. You’ll gain an understanding of how temperature changes affect soft tissue elasticity, joint mobility, circulation, and overall comfort.

The session also examines common compensatory postural patterns seen in colder conditions, including increased muscle tension, reduced range of motion, and altered movement strategies. Emphasis is placed on recognising these changes early and adapting management, exercise, and bodywork approaches to support the horse effectively through seasonal variation.

Originally delivered as part of our Monthly CPD Subscription, this course is now available to access on demand.
